Frequently asked questions
What happens after I send an inquiry?
Once I receive your information, I'll follow up with you and we can arrange a time and date that works. I'll send over an invoice with payment details (usually e-transfer is easiest). Once payment is received, the session is officially booked!
What happens if we can't make the session on the planned date?
Don't worry! Life happens. Just let me know as soon as possible and we can re-schedule for an alternative time. Please note that payments can be used toward another replacement session and cannot be refunded.
When should I schedule a maternity photoshoot?
I'd suggest any time within your last trimester. In general, the further along you are in your pregnancy will yield more dramatic results. However, don't wait until you're too close to full term as it can sometimes get quite uncomfortable and there's always the possibility the baby comes early.
When should I schedule a newborn photoshoot?
Typically anything from birth to about 5 weeks. Babies can be quite sleepy and fairly docile at that stage—not to mention they'll grow fast and won't stay the same size for too long! If that's not possible, don't worry about it, babies at any stage are worth documenting :)
When is the best time of day for a photoshoot?
For an indoor sessions, morning light is generally best although early afternoon is fine too. For anything outdoors, any time is good. For families with young children, mornings tend to be better especially before their nap time. Some people enjoy sunset shoots in which case we would plan something an hour before sunset in order to catch that nice sun-kissed glow.
When will we receive our photos?
The editing process is an intentional part of my work. Please allow 2 weeks for editing time. You'll receive a password-protected link to a private online gallery and digital album with full printing, downloading and sharing rights.
What is your service catchment area?
I currently serve Toronto and the following GTA regions: Mississauga, Brampton, Oakville, Markham and Richmond Hill. For areas outside of this catchment area (Barrie, Burlington, Hamilton, Guelph) we can still arrange a booking for an extra $100 travel fee.
I'd love to book a photoshoot but ...
...MY HOUSE IS A MESS!
Trust me, I totally understand you on this one. Our baby's bedroom was a storage room for the first year. Don't worry too much about making your entire house picture perfect. You may tidy up the spaces that have the best sunlight and areas close to windows.
... MY KID(S) ARE WILD!
Oh yes, most children are! Part of my job is to harness their spirited selves. If we are planning an outdoor session, we might arrange a nature walk. For an indoor session, perhaps think of something they like to engage in as a family, like reading books or painting. That can help break the ice just enough to feel comfortable getting their picture taken.
...I WISH I LOOKED BETTER..
There's always something to be self-conscious about and it's such a personal matter, but my approach to photography is to bring out the natural beauty that's innately in all of us. I'm open to having a conversation beforehand. One couple wanted a newborn session with mostly photos of their baby so I did just that. Feel free to reach out and ask me.
Do you offer services other than family photography?
Yes! If you're looking for a headshot / portraiture, engagement, elopement, intimate wedding or celebration please feel free to contact me.
